Abstract

Purpose : The visual acuity, stereopsis, contrast sensitivity and visual field were measured and analyzed for the glaucoma patients over 60 years of age.
Methods : Eighteen normal tension glaucoma patients (male 5, female 13, average age 70.00¡¾ 5.12) participated in the study with the consent. ETDRS (Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study) were used to measure, Titmus fly test was performed by wearing polarized glasses. The contrast sensitivity tests were measured under the photopic conditions for 3, 6, 12 and 18 cpd (cycle per degree). The MD (Mean deviation) was measured using the static perimeter. The correlation between measured values was analyzed using the SPSS 21.0,
Results : The MDs of the patients were -1.39¡¾1.31 dB and -3.59¡¾2.34 dB on the better eyes and the worse eyes, respectively while the stereoacuity was 248.89¡¾235.25. The higher contrast visual acuity was 0.11¡¾0.11 LogMAR and the lower was 0.42¡¾0.08 LogMAR. There was a meaningful negative correlation of better MD with 3 cpd, stereoscopic vision, low contrast vision on right eye, and contrast sensitivity on left eye (p<0.05).
Conclusion : The factors such as the vision, stereopsis, contrast sensitivity and visual field have the correlation with the glaucoma. It is believed that those visual functions should be regularly evaluated.
